there is much to see and do in your free time…
San Cristóbal is a sleepy and very relaxed island in the Galapagos with little changing from day to day. It has about 8,000 people living here. You will find yourself with plenty of free time outside your volunteer schedule. While volunteers typically work between 20 and 30 hours weekly from Monday to Friday, there will be plenty of time for social and tourist activities.
Volunteers generally live together at our eco-reserve in El Progreso, but often coordinate social meals, visits to night-life hotspots, beaches and local sites before or after volunteer activities and during weekends. They also go on trips to nearby islands, such as Isabela, Floreana and Santa Cruz.
Additionally, we observe the same national holidays as the rest of Ecuador, so be sure to plan your trip accordingly to enable you to make the most of your time here.
Our volunteers often head away to some of the nearby islands, such as Santa Cruz and Isabela, so make sure you allow some time during the weekends or before travelling home to explore some of the beautiful places which are accessible from San Cristóbal.
